Are you skilled in Bayesian econometrics, and would you like to make an impact at an ambitious start-up in decision support systems by doing your thesis internship at Councyl? Please consider this vacancy for an MSc graduation internship.
Councyl (www.councyl.ai) is a Delft University of Technology spin-off, co-founded by Caspar Chorus, professor of Choice behavior modeling at TU Delft. Councyl aims to help organizations increase the efficiency and improve the quality of the choices made by their domain experts. We do this by means of a decision support system powered by discrete choice theory and AI-techniques. Do you want to find more information about Councyl? Have a look at our company page!
In our first year as a company, we have helped Intensive Care Unit-doctors to determine which covid-patients (not) to admit to the ICU; we have helped consultancies and financial service providers optimize their handling of tenders; and we are currently helping municipalities and national government to digitize parts of their decision making processes, e.g. related to handling welfare applications.
Our approach to decision support holds clear advantages relative to existing approaches, in terms of both flexibility and explainability. Motivated by our successes over the last year, we are currently preparing for scale-up.
At the same time, we are developing our technology to new levels of sophistication. As part of this endeavor, we aim to design a Bayesian counterpart of our currently frequentist estimation routines.
We recognize that a Bayesian econometrics approach is an intuitive way to implement the dynamic self-learning part of our decision support system and are keen to explore its potential as an alternative way to model expertise. For this, we have opened an internship position for an MSc graduate student (‘afstudeerder’).
We are looking for an Econometrics student with proven skills in Bayesian econometrics, preferably in the context of discrete choice theory / choice modeling. Other qualities that we expect to find, are a focus on quality, a collaborative attitude and a can-do mentality. We are a small, enthusiastic team which includes three co-founders, a decision analyst and several graduate student interns, operating in an exciting, dynamic environment.
Would you like to experience how it feels to work at a company that was listed as “one of the most exciting university spin-offs worldwide” in 2020? Please send your resume and a brief motivation letter to Caspar Chorus by clicking the “Apply for job” button.
